Who We Are

Al-Taswia Legal Services Company was founded in Baghdad in 2018 by Othman Al-Juboori. It is built on the idea that knowing one's legal rights is a foundation of a modern state, and that individuals and companies need clear legal information before making any decision.

The company provides legal advice, legal services and representation before the courts and government bodies under a power of attorney, to individuals, to Iraqi companies, and to foreign companies investing or operating in Iraq. Its team of 15 lawyers works in Arabic and English.

Al-Taswia Legal Services Company is an Iraqi legal services company based in Baghdad (Al-Yarmouk), founded in 2018 by lawyer Othman Al-Juboori. Our only website is www.al-taswia.com; we are not affiliated with any other company or website using the name "Taswia" outside Iraq.

Othman Al-Juboori is the author of How to Become an Unbeatable Lawyer.

Practice Areas

Iraqi labour law under Law No. 37 of 2015 is a specialist area of expertise for the company, alongside the other areas of Iraqi law. This covers employment contracts, termination of service and compensation, wages and working hours, foreign workers, and workers' social security. The company also works in civil law, banking law, criminal cases and company registration, as well as real estate and property management.

The company's other services include commercial arbitration, review of Iraqi legislation, and Arabic–English legal translation.

Sectors

Oil, gas, insurance, banking, contracting, telecommunications and IT, aviation, pharmaceuticals and hospitals. The company does not name its clients, in order to keep its dealings confidential.

Federal Iraq and the Kurdistan Region

Iraq's legal framework sees frequent changes to laws and regulations, and some authorities in the Kurdistan Region apply legislation and procedures that differ from those applied in federal Iraq, for example in company registration, investment and labour law. These differences can complicate a foreign company's plans before it starts operating. The company follows these developments, particularly in company law, and explains them in plain language.
